At the Association of Women Contractors, we believe that our future women business owners start out in the workplace both fields, trades and in offices.  With the mission to drive equity in terms of the ratio of women-owned business and women in the construction industry, we offer financial support in the form of scholarships to female students and apprentices who are pursuing careers in the construction industry.

Through these scholarships, we aim to assist recipients in affording their education, connecting with members and developing a strong support system.  AWC provides two types of scholarships for outstanding FEMALES. You can find the details of the application eligibility criteria and application process below.

Female students currently enrolled in construction-related fields at a four-year college; two-year community or technical college, or a construction trade school. You must also be a current resident of Minnesota or attending postsecondary education.

Females currently working at the apprentice level or graduating their trade or training program to start work as an apprentice. You must also be a current Minnesota resident or working for a Minnesota construction company.

We will start accepting scholarships for 2019 in February 2019

The distribution for awards is determined annually based on the volume of funds raised.  Recipients are selected based on a number of factors: work experience, activities, goals, financial need, and grade point average.

Applications must be received online or postmarked by April 30 each year. All eligible applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee.

All applicants will be notified by May 30 each year.  Not all applicants will be selected as recipients. The award is not renewable; however, you may reapply to the program as long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

All award checks will be issued by The Association of Women Contractors.

The Academic Scholarship recipient check will be provided to your school in one installment prior to Fall Semester.  The check is made payable to the student’s school. Recipients are required to notify AWC of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information.

Apprenticeship Scholarships are paid to the recipient directly in two payments. Apprenticeship recipients will receive 50% of their scholarship at Scholarship Award Ceremony or via mail. The remaining 50% will be sent to the recipient by December 30 of the year they are selected if they remain in the apprentice program.

The Association of Women Contractors reserves the right to review the conditions and the procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.
