Today’s blog is a public Thank You note.

Last Friday was the AWC Scholarship Golf FUNdraiser Event. This is the sole funding source for our scholarships awarded to women entering careers in construction. We have awarded over $230K since 2003 to our recipients. The gratitude we have received from the recipients over the years is humbling.

It was incredible to return to the course after a 2-year pandemic hiatus. When we were budgeting for the tournament, we weren’t sure if the tournament momentum would continue so we had a conservative approach but stayed hopeful. To our surprise this year’s event sold out within 10 days.

We were able to honor 8 women – three 4-year college students and five trade students and apprentices. This doesn’t happen because we put on a thoroughly planned event – which we do. This happens solely because of all our sponsors, golfers, or donations.

Today I want to thank all of you that chose AWC’s event and scholarship FUNdraiser to commit your time and money to. We understand how many organizations you could support but you chose AWC and our scholarship recipients. The event was another success because of you.

Thank you to the members of the Special Events Committee for their work in planning and for working the event. Thank you to the Scholarship Committee for their time in reviewing applications and meeting to determine the scholarship recipients and details. Thank you to the volunteers for event day both on the course and off.

And lastly thank you to my team – Janelle McCafferty and Anna Muccio.  Your attention to every detail shows on event day. You make this event what it is.
