*** Due to the state of the pandemic, we are unable to host our golf event this year. We are still planning to award scholarships in 2021. Thank you for your continued support and we hope to golf with you in 2022.
At the Association of Women Contractors, we believe that our future women business owners start out in the workplace both fields, trades and in offices. With the mission to drive equity in terms of the ratio of women-owned business and women in the construction industry, we offer financial support in the form of scholarships to female students and apprentices who are pursuing careers in the construction industry.
Through these scholarships, we aim to assist recipients in affording their education, connecting with members and developing a strong support system. AWC provides two types of scholarships for outstanding FEMALES. You can find the details of the application eligibility criteria and application process below.
Female students currently enrolled in construction-related fields at a four-year college; two-year community or technical college, or a construction trade school. You must also be a current resident of Minnesota or attending postsecondary education.
Females currently working at the apprentice level or graduating their trade or training program to start work as an apprentice. You must also be a current Minnesota resident or working for a Minnesota construction company.
Applications must be received by April 30, 2021.
SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARDS
The authorized distribution for new awards is determined annually based on the amount of funds raised. Recipients will be selected based on a number of factors: work experience, activities, goals, GPA, and financial need.
Applications must be received online or postmarked by April 30, 2021. All eligible applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee.
NOTIFICATION OF APPLICANTS
All applicants will be notified by June 15, 2021. Not all applicants will be selected as recipients. The award is not renewable; however, you may reapply to the program as long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
All award checks will be issued by The Association of Women Contractors.
The Academic Scholarship recipient check will be provided to your school in one installment prior to August 30, 2021. The check is made payable to the student’s school. Recipients are required to notify AWC of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information.
Apprenticeship Scholarship is made payable to the recipient directly in two payments. Apprenticeship recipients will receive 50% of their scholarship at Scholarship Award Ceremony or via mail. The remaining 50% will be sent to recipient December 30, 2021 provided recipient remains in the apprentice program.
The Association of Women Contractors reserves the right to review the conditions and the procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.
