1:15 – 2:00: RETAINAGE – WHAT & WHY

One word that has become divisive in the industry and threatens to pit owner against general, and general against sub. But knowledge is power. This segment will explain the basics of retainage, provide you an update on current legislative activities relating to retainage, and talk through ways to control for risk when retainage is involved.
2:15 – 4:00 Contracts Panel Presentation
Panelists: Caryn Boisen, Larson King; Tim Gillen, Bolander; and Eric Olsen, RJM Construction Moderator Laura Karow, Gunnar Electric
This panel presentation will discuss contract clauses from both a legal and practical perspective, including clauses affecting submittals, indemnification, lien and bond rights, liquidated damages, and dispute resolution. You will learn why these contract clauses are important and whether and how you can negotiate with an owner or prime contractor to mitigate your risk and make your project a success.
